Broadband Prices to Double: Report![]() Broadband pricing is a bargain -- and cable operators could double premiums over the next few years, a recent research report predicts. Pricing has "barely increased over the past decade while broadband utility has exploded," writes Jonathan Chaplin, managing partner at New Street Research in a report it sent to subscribers this week, dubbed "4Q16 Cable Trends Review." And while the researcher does not expect leaders such as Charter or Comcast to soon raise prices, it does foresee larger bills for cable subscribers in the foreseeable future, thanks in part to the growing prevalence of bundled and standalone offers (and pricing). In April 2008, broadband users reported an average monthly bill of $34.50, compared with $35 in December 2007, according to a Pew Research report at the time. In 2016, the average Internet-only bill was $53, reported consulting firm cg42 in "Cord Cutter & Cord Never." Related posts:
