Fiber-fueled smart city project hits the streets in Angers, FranceThe city of Angers, France, has embarked on a 12-year, €120 million (US$137 million) contract with Engie Consortium to develop an "intelligent territory" with several "smart" initiatives extending to street lights, waste, water and energy. To bring all of this to life, the city will update 10,000 poles and 5,000 cabinets – which are being fed by a fiber network built in the early 2000s.
